| Description: | Each year, Local First Utah celebrates "Independents Week" during the first week of July. This year, we've decided that one week just isn't enough time to celebrate the wide variety of local and independent business that call Utah home. Instead, we're declaring this summer to be the "Summer of Independents!" Launching on July 1st and streching until September 1st, the Summer of Independents will showcase businesses far and wide through a variety of unique and exciting events. We're still in the planning stages for this exciting campaign, but here are just a few things we have in store: The Chef's Challenge at the Downtown Farmers' Market on July 7th We'll showcase three restaurants that are unique to the Utah food scene, and challenge them to create delicious and dynamic entrees with ingredients sourced entirely from Farmers' Market vendors. Your Business, Your Story. We want to know you, our loyal locals, and in turn, we want the world to know you. Throughout the "Summer of Independents" we'll be showcasing unique stories about our partner business on our blog, Facebook, and e-news. We want these stories to be told in your own words, from your perspective. Tell us why you chose to take on the challenge of being an independent business owner. Summer Saver Coupon Campaign Similar to last winter's Gift Shift Coupon Campaign, the Summer Saver Coupon is designed to allow local business owners to advertise as specially designed discount to locally minded consumers. The details are still in the works, so stay tuned to find out more about how to participate in this exciting facet of the "Summer of Independents!" "I Am Local" Photo Exposition on August 3 at Poor Yorick Studios The "I Am Local" photo exposition will tell the story of ten local businesses through the lenses of local photographers. Documenting businesses from across the state, the exposition will illustrate the many ways local businesses are connected to one another, and to their communities. The exposition will be held Friday, August 3rd at Poor Yorick Studios.
